About the Event

Richesart Gallery, in collaboration with Black Spades, Konsole Kingz, and ATX GameMakers, presents an afternoon where art, culture, and competition collide. Art of Spades invites the community to come together for an immersive experience—learn the game of Spades, connect with fellow players, and compete for cash prizes—all inside the vibrant atmosphere of an art gallery filled with live music, food, and drinks.

Event Timeline | 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM | Learn the Game New to Spades? No problem. Kick off the day with an introduction hosted by the creator of Black Spades, covering rules, strategies, and the spirit of the game.

4:30 PM – 5:30 PM | Friendly Rounds Guests pair up and enjoy casual matches, practicing strategies while vibing to live music, art, and refreshments in the gallery.

5:30 PM – 6:30 PM | Cash Tournament Test your skills in the official tournament bracket, powered by Konsole Kingz and ATX GameMakers. Cash prizes and bragging rights are on the line in this thrilling competition.

6:30 PM – 7:00 PM | Awards & Social  Celebrate the champions, grab one last drink or bite, and network with fellow players, creatives, and art lovers before the day winds down.

SPADES TOURNAMENT DETAILS 

- Time: 5:30pm
- Prize: $TBA for the 1st place team. Free drinks and food for 2nd place.
- Entry Fee: $25 per person, $50 per team 
- Location: RichesArt Gallery. (2511 E 6th St. Unit A, Austin, TX 78702)
- Number of Teams: 4 to 16
- Bonus Prize: Receive 200,000 in-game coins once you sign up to play in the tournament and register your profile in the Black Spades game! Just shoot us an email, and we will bless you. (Not watch, but PLAAAAAY!)

SPADES TOURNAMENT RULES

- Trump Card Rank: Hi Joker, Lo Joker, 2 of Spade, 2 of Diamonds, Ace of Spade
- Score: 250/game (Final game is played to 500)
- Time: 30 mins/game (the team with the most points wins) - Finals: 60 mins/game
- Spades Lead (No breaking spades. Spades can be played at any time)
- First Hand Open (The first hand bids itself)
- Going Board: 4 books (Minimum bid per hand is 4 books)
- First Hand Board (Automatic lose if a team doesn't get 4 books in the first hand.)
- Blinds: 6 and 7 (Must be down -100. Blind 6 = 120/-60, Blind 7 = 140/-70)
- Bags (1 point. Get 10 bags and get -100 points)
- Reneg: -3 books, if caught (If wrong, you forfeit 3 books, so be right!)
- Boston! (Bid 13. Make 13. Instant win!)
- 10 for 2! (Bid 10. Make 10. Get 200pts)
- Misdeal (Can be called when a player has no spades)
- Tie Game (The winner of the previous game is the winner, or the 1st dealer's team)
- First Dealer: Highest card dealt(if tied, deal one card again) or First Jack
